Huge congratulations to our AMRF Fellow Kundai Dube whose research on invasive alien plants in Zimbabwe’s Nyanga National Park has just been published in the Transactions of the Royal Society of South Africa.
Her findings show that woody invasive plants expanded in Nyanga’s montane grasslands between 1984 and 2023, collapsing plant diversity from 115 species to just 11 in invaded areas. By correcting long-standing taxonomic assumptions, her work gives managers the specific, actionable data they need to design lasting, sustainable solutions for this cherished high-elevation ecosystem.

This is what science with purpose, done by people who know and love these mountains, looks like.
Well done, Kundai! A huge achievement.
